Shaden, thanks for the important comment.
My assessment of this whole charade is that a gang has executed a murderer. I have heared the executors chanting the name of Muqtada sadr while hanging Saddam. It is just another gang taking the place of the Ba'ath party.
I am with you that the secrets of the Saddam era were buried with him, however the man had every chance in the world to talk during the hearings. He only gace slogans in the court and never gave facts. I was waiting for him to reveal secrets but maybe he was told a deal with the Americans can spare him execution, and discovered their lies only at later stage.
And for God sake do not compare Saddam with other leaders. They are all rotten I know but none of them was so ruthless and psychopath in his "leadership" as you want him to be trated..a leader.
A leader who has caused the death of millions of Iraqis in useless wars and destroyed generations and resources that could have built a great country. Ya..what kind of "leader" was he!

Batir, he wasn't tried for all his crimes, and that is just absurd! by sending him to the gallows so quickly not only was he deprived the right of defending himself but his supposedly other victims were deprived the right of being heard and the right of knowing who was really behind the war on Iran and the invasion of Kuwait. By killing him they are hoping to bury everything with him. Half-truths can never lead to absolute justice.

But let me ask you this, don't you think if Saddam deserved what he got then probably more than half of the Arab leaders deserve the same fate? I think that politics is dirty by nature and I doubt that any of the world's current leaders is not responsible directly or indirectly for the death of at least one person (of course you'd wish it was only one man). Does that mean Saddam does not deserve to die because they are all murderers in some way or another? I don't know, all I'm saying is that he deserved to be tried as a leader, in an international court, where things are taken seriously and not ridiculously as if it was a 9a3eedi movie. He was tried while the country is still under occupation for God's sake! I can't believe this has actually happened in the 21 century, it's very shameful.

Moey, I'm sorry for what you've been through, but I think that you're overwhelmed by your emotions that all you could see was a murderer being executed. I wish it was that simple.

The only sad thing about saddam's death is that he was janged by an American process under occupation and not by a brave Iraqi citizen. You say the trial was not fair. Well, Saddam NEVER gave any trials for his opponents. One word, one order was enough for killing. In 1979 during a speech in the so called parliament he mentioned the names of 19 leaders in ba'ath party who said were conspiring against him and they were all escorted out of the hall and shot dead. At least he was given the trial to speak and still lie by showing support to democracy he never practised as a leader.
He is in the mercy of God now, but I have no sadness whatsoever about him.

I agree with you.

However, yes Bush etc. are /a/ cause for the violence there, but they don't send out the suicide bombers and death squads.

More attention should be paid to the physical killers, of which I suspect the American soldiers are a decreasing proportion.

100%correct, that's exactly what i think.
regardless of the mistakes he did or the number of ppl he killed, his execution was another step into the wrong way and a damn insult to the whole muslim world...anyway,who needs 2 be 3arabee anymore??
