I recommend you see a new movie out by Tawfiq Abu Wael, from Umm el Fahm, Palestine 48, '3a6ash'... it talks about similar issues and is really well shot. And it deals with the simple things... trab, ramal, maay w hawa - and from these very simple elements the guy is able to convey so many messages through this film. . And you're on the right track with seeking friendship that is really about 'friends' and not about prestige/wealth/influence. The latter will just leave you feeling empty in the long run.
