When you want the best in a ladder, look no further than the Little Giant Ladder. The Little Giant Ladder is the must have tool for anyone who owns a house and anyone who uses ladders in their profession. For those hard to reach areas around your house or your yard, the Little Giant and any of a number of superbly crafted accessories have been designed to bring safety, stability, ease of use and flexibility to the job.

I own a Little Giant and use it several times a week around the house. In fact, many of my neighbors also own and use them in more professional settings. At first, I was highly skeptical about a ladder that was sold on an infomericial but this lives up to its promise of being the more versatile ladder in the world.

Whether you’re painting the trim around your house, trimming dead branches from your trees, cleaning out those stuffed rain gutters or remodeling, the Little Giant Ladder can make those jobs easier to do, safer to tackle and cheaper than the vast array of other ladders and equipment you’d need to replace it.

Made out of the finest metal alloys available, designed by brilliant engineers to conform to almost any conditions, the Little Giant Ladder can replace almost a full 70% of all existing ladders currently on the market and you’d never miss any of them. I was able to get rid of three other ladders in my garage and now just use one.

And with a wide choice of accessories, there’s almost no job, no project that my Little Giant Ladder can’t handle with ease. From irregular surfaces, to stairwells, from rain gutters to entire paint jobs, from high up places to low to the ground areas, the Little Giant Ladder system saves me time and money without sacrificing the safety and stability I was looking for.

With the Little Giant Ladder you’re not just buying a ladder. You’re getting “24 ladders in one” that is manufactured to only the highest of standards and is made in the USA.

Simply put, there’s no better piece of equipment that you can own that can handle all of the jobs that the Little Giant Ladder was designed for. If you’re considering purchasing one, I highly recommend the Little Giant Ladder System and accessories.

Slate Roofing Materials

If you are seriously thinking of renovating or changing your roof, here are some quality information that you can probably use on hunting for some excellent slate roofing materials.

One of the most distinguishable and elegant roofing materials available in the market today is the slate. Slate roofing can commonly be spotted on English castles and middle class houses in the United States. In roofing any structure, most people would want stylish yet inexpensive roofing materials that will last for many decades. In almost all areas in the world, you are sure to find slate roofing materials in several structures.

Amazingly, slate roofing materials are readily available in any part of the world. This handiness makes slate roofing materials quite expensive anywhere. Slate is primarily produced from shale. Intense pressure and extreme heat create a chemistry process in the shale that would eventually result in producing various micas, quartz and slate.
Any slate roofing design will need an extra support as compared to other roofing materials. Since slate is essentially a rock, it is therefore predictably heavier. It would be quite a disaster if you or a loved one would be hit in the head by a poorly mounted slate roofing material.
When you have decided on using slate roofing materials, you have to know the all-important facts. Slate roofs would need some additional structural support in the rafters to sustain the weight of the rock.
You might find yourself asking, why would you want a slate roof? With proper installation and maintenance, your slate roofing materials can possibly last up to 150 years! Slate roofing is not hard to maintain at all and resilient to harsh weather conditions. In addition to that, slate roofs are good insulators and would still probably last longer than any industrialized roofing material available in the market today.
There are many contractors who specialize in slate roofing materials because of its durability and reliability through the years. It is considered a very good investment that your grandchildren would certainly appreciate and treasure. Most of the slate building materials is inexpensive, which means its maintenance wont put a hole in your pocket.
No matter what type of material you’ll decide to use for your roof, make sure to ask some advises and assistance from some reliable sources. It would be best to take some time to do some research works before making any hasty decisions. This would save you from encountering unnecessary problems in the future.

Rubber Roofing

When we talk about roofing, does rubber ring a bell? Rubber roofing may not be popular among homeowners. But for those living in mobile homes, rubber roofing has quite a number of followers. Its popularity can be attributed to its capacity to provide a cool atmosphere during summertime and can protect you from the biting cold of winter. Rubber roofing, which comes in two forms, the seam and the seamless, is the newfound answer for low slope or flat roof homes.

EPDM rubber (ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber) was first used in automotive weather stripping and seals, now it is used as a roofing material. Renko/Saarnova material is one of the leading providers of EPDM rubber. It has a proven track record of producing excellent EPDM rubber. Application of the rubber is very easy because Renko/Saarnova also provide a complete sealing strips and adhesives.

Ecostar is a leading manufacturer of sophisticated imitation of wooden and tile roofing made of rubber. The protective qualities of rubber are restored, yet it doesn’t look like rubber at all. Their rubber roofing material is made of 100 recyclable rubber and plastic polymer. This material is light that it weighs only 1.26 pounds, which makes it easy for installation. It can stand strong winds, heavy rainfall and hail. Some of their famous brand names are, Majestic Slate, Colonial Tiles, and Celestial Slate Tiles. They also have Designer Series, Seneca Cedar Shake Tiles and Titus Tiles.

For anyone who wishes his or her roof to be made of rubber, one important consideration that should not be taken for granted is installation. If you want to do it on your own, a do-it-yourself kit will come in handy, especially if the type of rubber you are using is seamless. Remember that the saying “practice makes perfect is not a good motto to follow otherwise; you are going to need a lot of money to perfectly install your rubber roofing.

If you think you need the assistance of a pro, try the ones with an excellent record of rubber application. Mounting rubber is such a tedious task; it’s going to need a lot of patience and hardwork. Rubber roofing may be an alternative choice of roofing material, but it does not guarantee a leak-free roof. Once you have laid the plies of rubber, be sure to check for leaks so that immediate repair can be done. Be sure to seal everything off before you rest from a whole day of backbreaking job.

So, when it comes to roofing, does rubber ring a bell?

Roofing Underlayment

Roofing underlayment is the second layer protection that is essential to a roofing system. It provides protection from moisture and other elements that is detrimental to the roof’s life span. A growing number of homeowners are now conscious of the right roofing underlayment for their roofing system. Felt, synthetics, and self-adhering ice-and-water barriers are the three types of underlayment that homeowners can choose from and avail in the market today.

The essential factors though, in considering the right material for underlayments should be borne in mind. A good material must be fire retardant, thus protecting the roofing system and the entire building in case of fire incidence. It should withstand the ferocity of strong winds that might lift it and eventually tear it out. Underlayment material should be hard enough to get holes in it. In this case possible leaks are prevented. Lastly, it should be strong enough to accommodate heavy downpour. Underlayment may mean an additional expense for the household, but this could actually mean a lot of saving in the long run because your property will be protected for a longer period of time.

Felt paper, or just felt is a material that is literally made of paper soaked in asphalt. It has been used fro more than five decades now because it is manageable to install and reasonably priced. That disadvantage of felt though is that it can tear easily especially during hot climate. Since the material is not porous, it tends to contain moisture and can be burdensome in installing because it has a slippery exterior that might cumbersome to the one installing it.

Polypropylene-based underlayment is the latest in the market today. It provides the same purpose as a second-degree protection from destructive elements to your roofing system. Synthetic underlayment is sturdier and lighter that asphalt-saturated felt. It is much safer to install because it does not slip like felt does. The catch is, synthetic underlayment are priced much higher that felt but it gives better protection to your roof and last longer too. Some synthetic underlayments are made of polyester or fiberglass fabric.

An undelayment that is used primarily to protect from ice and water is the Self-adhering ice-and-water barrier. The name suggests that this underlayment needs no fasteners in installing which means holes are avoided. The trend originally began in New England where winter is terrible and ice would accumulate on rooftops. This underlayment can be used on top of felt or synthetics since it covers the punctures caused by nails and staples in installing paper or synthetic underlayment.

A strong roofing underlayment is truly essential in achieving a good roofing system that is made to last long. A good investment on underlayment will make a great deal in protecting your property and family as well.

The only way to protect your home, investment and the lives of you or your loved ones is with a properly installed lightning protection system. The only effective means is providing a safe path to ground for the lightning strike

lightning protection, lightning rod, lightning cable, strike

Not much thought goes into an actual lightning protection system. People observe lightning all the time but seldom consider their homes or businesses being struck by lightning or the loss of life that can accompany it. Did you know that a Lightning bolt has an electrical charge of roughly 100 million volts and the heat generated in the path of a lightning strike gets more than 54,000 degrees Fahrenheit? That’s approximately 5 times hotter than the surface of our sun.

Lightning reportedly causes over 10,000 forest fires to start each year in the United States. The energy discharged by a Lightning strike is so intense that it can melt sand where it strikes and turns the sand into glass. These glass tubes that are formed are called fulgurite.

The only way to protect your home, investment and the lives of you or your loved ones is with a properly installed lightning protection system. No other form of protection works properly and many people and companies have tried to either harness or repel lightning before it strikes, but their efforts have been ineffective. The only effective means is providing a safe path to ground for the lightning strike.

There are more lightning strikes occurring in the United States each year than many people realize. Detection instruments and scientists have estimated that lightning strikes somewhere in the US over 24 million times a year and it kills an average of 73 people. That is just deaths; more than 700 people are seriously injured. Tornadoes kill approximately 68 people a year and hurricanes kill about 16 people a year in the U.S. About 10% of the people that are struck by lightning are killed while the other 90% are left with long term effects and problems such as migraines, headaches, seizures and mood disorders, numbness and possibly more. If you are listening to a radio and static starts to occur that can mean that lightning is about to strike (either the radio station or near you).

Lightning protection cable is specific and manufactured to work correctly for the millions of volts that lightning produces. Just using a large copper cable instead of proper Class I conductor cable will not work in a lightning protection system. Lightning conductor cable is specified to contain at least 32 strands and each strand needs to be 17 gauge (for copper cable) (24 strand, 14 gauge for aluminum). The entire cable must be woven or braided as the lightning charge travels on the surface of each strand. The cable must be specified as 65,000 circular mils of conductivity.

This type and quality of cable can not be obtained at a local building center or hardware store. The cable must be bare and never coated or painted. That would defeat the whole purpose of the correct conductor cable. Trying to save yourself some money on buying the incorrect cable will end up causing damage and your insurance will deny your claim if the wrong products are used. A lightning grounding cable needs to be UL certified and approved by the Lightning Protection Institute. Some insurance companies offer a homeowners discount if you have a lightning system installed on your house.
