is a respectable, Muslim scholar responding to personal attacks by turning Muslims against each other. Muslim scholars should make extra efforts to unite us, instead of bickering infront of us.

I replied to Naseem’s post, and I have a different view regarding this. You say Muslim scholars should make extra efforts to unite us. My question is, would writing a book about the principles of dialogue that could be established between the different Muslim doctrines qualify as such an effort? Very much so I would think, and such would be Qaradawi’s own book on that very same subject.

If I were in Qaradawi’s shoes, I would be saying the same thing. He’s defending himself, not just bickering.

Just because he wrote a book does not mean his mission is over! I respect Qaradawi but I still disapprove of what he said. And to my surprise, he defended himself by saying that he was personally attacked by Shia’ scholars. He can bash other Muslim scholars all he wants, but to create fitnah just because he was personally attacked is very disturbing and un-wise.
