Homosexual Scraps

As homosexuality in the Arab world is beginning to crawl out of the closet, Islamic authorities are up for a new challenge to clarify Islam’s stand on the issue and direct the audiences to behave in a politically correct way that doesn’t contradict with the Islamic teachings.

Two years ago, a gay wedding in the UAE made it to headlines when authorities revealed intentions to inject them with male hormones and make them undergo therapy. That sounded alright to me, I mean, gayness being some sort of disorder is a possibility. I really don’t think one is born gay, but then again I don’t know any gay people.

Last month the first public meeting for Palestinian lesbians took place in Haifa. Here’s an excerpt of the statement made by the head of the Islamic movement in “Israel” in this regard:

We do not oppose their personal choice but we oppose their intent to bring this issue to the open air. The consensus of our community does not tolerate this kind of behavior. The consensus feels it is kind of a disease that must be healed and must be healed in a peaceful way.

An old American online buddy once told me that his girl friends became lesbians when they gave up on men. He said it’s because men are not nice. I wonder if that’s possible, switching teams being the result of a disappointment, or a series of disappointments in men.

ASWAT, the gay Arab women group, received an international award for human rights. Funny, none of the human rights groups sacrificing their lives to help Palestinians every day received any, nor were acknowledged internationally for their amazing efforts and bravery.

“Islamic authorities are up for a new challenge to clarify Islam’s stand on the issue and direct the audiences to behave in a politically correct way”

Actually I tried to read this sentence like 10 times, but I couldn’t comprehend it. Last time I checked, Islam is extremely strict about the gay issue. It simply prohibits it. So what politics are you talking about here?!

“I really don’t think one is born gay, but then again I don’t know any gay people”

F.Y.I, people could be gay by default. This is scientifically proven. Several cases of gay animals have been diagnosed. So I suggest you read the Article in Scientific American February Issue 2006.

    True Jordanian,
The average protective doctors doesn’t recommend new medicines before five up to ten years of first release, I remember that I wanted to go for Lazik to get rid of my glasses but my brother (who is a doctor) said, when you find an eye doctor who took the risk of Lazik go for it.

back to the subject, what they said in SA Feb/2006 issue doesn’t mean it’s 100% correct and will never change nevertheless if it was true then such people should go for transex instead of living as gays, I believe it’s much easier to have a former male as female now than having gays between us.

firstly, i think scientific opinion has reached the consensus that being gay in /not/ a choice.

you should get to know some gay people!

secondly, what’s so bad about being gay? what harm do they do? they like people of the same sex - shock HORROR!

how on other could you dislike someone based on sexuality, that’s similar to hating someone based on their religious beliefs, their dress, their skin colour, their sex.

homophobia is just so bizarre, so fucking ridiculous to me.

Even if scientific research proved that some are born gay, I still think it could be psychological, it’s a great possibility regardless of science and lab experiments.

I don’t dislike gay people, I don’t judge people. I can’t deny that that I dislike the behavior though (homosexuality that is).

What I read some time ago, that homosexuality can be a birth deficiency (see deficiency, i.e. not something normal)! It also can develop because of some psychological disorders… I don’t think homosexuality should be an issue, homosexual people should have their chance to live “normally”, the way they want to express the word “normally”, it’s their lives… heterosexual people should not be bothered with this at all… BTW, I consider myself conservative, believe it or not :)

“I don’t dislike gay people, I don’t judge people. I can’t deny that that I dislike the behavior though (homosexuality that is).”

imho that’s the same as saying, “i can’t deny that i dislike the behaviour of black people” or “i can’t deny that i dislike the behaviour of veil wearing people”.

    seriously bullshit.

if people like to stick their penises in various orifices of other consenting adults of the same sex then good for them, it doesn’t harm you or i in anyway.

in the same way black skin doesn’t harm people, ppl wearing veils don’t harm me, cross wearers don’t harm people.

therefore there is zippo to dislike.

John, maybe you’re right but I can’t honestly tell you that I’m ok with the behavior while I’ve never been around gay people, I CAN actually but it won’t be honest :-)

It’s human nature, everything new or different is often feared and disliked.
