The New Media: Bloggers and Participatory Journalism

01Feb06

Today was the first day of Al-Jazeera second annual summit: Defending Freedom, Defining Responsibility

Of course I’ve taken pictures for Al-Jazeera offices but no time to upload them now, enjoy pictures of the third session about blogging and participatory journalism. They did very very well! actually it is the best session so far, and I had the chance to meet wonderful people like Dan Gilmore and Nathan Stoll (I had no idea he’s the google guy until he was introduced at the beginning of the session as such). Haitham did exceptionally well, and I felt just so proud to be a blogger!

I’m becoming famous by the way :D I’m going to be interviewed in تحت المجهر along with Ethan and Haitham, and there’s a project with Al-Jazeera for young people in the Arab World, did I mention that Dan Gilmore and his friend (excuse my ignorance I forgot his name) said I’m gorgeous?? it is quite different when such great people praise me. Anyway, I’m very excited about the youth project and very optimistic about the whole thing, I’ve met ambitious and intellegent young guys who actually want to do something about “it” and for the first time I realize why did Al Jazeera call me “a youth leader”.

Laterz.

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate it :)

I’ve made an interview for the final report, they’ve shown it yesterday and today also but I personally couldn’t see it. Under Scope has no specific time actually. And of course the conference was live on their channel “Mubashir”.

AL-JAZEERA IS AN AMERICAN ALLY AND WORKING FOR PROMOTING AMERICAN INTERESTS TO JUSTIFY SOCALLED WAR ON TERROR. IF AL-JAZEERA IS REALLY A MEDIA JIHADIST, WHY THEY HAVE NOT YET BEEN ATTACKED AND INVESTIGATED BY AMERICAN CIA AND OTHER INTELLIGENCE AGENCIES IN THE WORLD TO FIND OUT THE SOURCES OF INFORMATION AND TO CHECK WHO BRINGS / TRANSPORTS VIDEOS OF OSAMA BIN LADEN TO ALJAZEERA. A MAN IN PAKISTAN WHO MAY BE IN HIDING IN A REMOTE PLACE CAN BE CAUGHT BY THE AMERICANS BUT AMERICANS DONT INVESTIGATE OR SPY THE TRANSPORTATION OF VIDEO TAPES OF OSAMA AND HIS TEAM TO ALJAZEERA. WHY NOT?
