أصدر الأمير نايف بن عبد العزيز، وزير الداخلية السعودي، قرارا يقضي بإمكانية حصول المرأة على نسخة رسمية طبق الأصل من القيود المسجلة في سجلات الأحوال المدنية المتعلقة بها أو بأصولها أو بأولادها ووالدهم، لكنه ربط قرار حصولها على نسخة رسمية طبق الأصل لشهادات ميلاد أولادها بوجود مقتضى شرعي أو أسباب مبررة.

Prince Nayef Bin Abdul-Aziz - Saudi Minister of Internal Affairs- issued a law that will enable Saudi women to get original copies of registered documents related to her, her origins, her kids or their father. But said she can’t have original copies of her kids’ birth certificates except in the presence of a religiously-legitimate reason or good reasons.

    They’re only 50 years late than the US. Maybe they’re starting to get it … Although, I am sure if it wasn’t for some external pressure something like that wouldn’t have ever passed!

    Anyway, Good win for women, hopefully more reforms are in the works. Just a proof that nothing stands in the face of persistence, not even the rigid backward Saudi system
