Beauty Pageant for Hot Veiled Women

24Jul07

Like normal beauty pageants are not bad enough, now we have beauty pageants for veiled women!

Wearing bikinis or covered from head to toe what’s the difference really? beauty is still measured by height and limited to a certain age. It still requires the knowledge of more than one language, as if speaking a second language will suddenly give a “hot” airhead brains.

How does a piece of cloth make an objectifying and degrading competition all holy and great? I’m veiled and I know that a veil does not make you better, it is not good in itself, neither is covering any of your body parts. Think of it in this way, if you don’t go to the doctor because you don’t want to reveal certain parts of your body, not only is this poor judgment on your side but it might actually kill you. On the other hand, if you participate in a beauty competition (like there’s anything to compete over here, assuming that all their assets are natural, God is always the winner) where you have to be taller than the majority of women, much skinnier, with piercing back bones and ribs that could kill if somebody accidentally fell on them and you exhibit what you got for peope to enjoy and decide for you whether or not you’re beautiful and how much and you reveal more than you cover of your skin just to impress these people for whatever reason you might have (ie money and fame) then you’re objectifying yourself and allowing others to demean you and the rest of your gender. Again poor judgment.

Imagine being against those pageants only because they don’t allow fully-covered veiled women? just because contestants wear bikinis and backless sexy party dresses?? news flash, they’re not Muslims and nobody gives a crap if you think it’s immodest, just shut up and skip that TV channel.

I’m thinking now, what’s next? so far we got our veiled Barbie and veiled beauty queen. Maybe Islamic makeover: boob jobs for veiled women who want to please their husbands.

LOL. That was funny and SO true! So they’re veiled, the whole point of which is to hide your beauty so you can be judged on your brain, and escape the sin of vanity… and yet they are competing in a competition to be judged by a panel of strangers on their BEAUTY, which only the vain would ever think of entering. Oxymoron, anyone?
But no, this will not be seen as degrading or pathetic. It will be seen as a step forward in the Westernization of the Arab world. Instead of actually doing something productive (like, oh off the top of my head, etiquette school to teach people how to say simple things like please and thank you) or learning from the many good things the West has to offer, we Arabs prefer to learn and adapt things like beauty contests and McDonalds.

how about a 7ijabini? a flabby bikini for 7ijabis? or, a wet 7ijab contest? and for the talent shows, a woman who can guess your hair color by looking at your not so revealing jilbab
    tards.

It’s an oxymoron of sorts, just as tinker pointed out. You really can’t have a contest of which the basis is to objectify women, while having at its core the concept of the veil which is based on removing objectification in the first place.

The “requirements” however made me laugh, as did Mazz’s wet 7ijabi contest….that would get a lot of ratings (mostly from alazhar)

    LOL@ Mazen’s hijabation of everything!

Qwaider, tinkerbella, Nas: Thanks for leaving comments. It’s a relief knowing that I’m not the only one who thinks it’s retarded to Islamize something that is based on non-Islamic values.

The Most beautiful things in life cannot b seen nor touched they must b felt within the Heart ..

    …The Muslim Women ‘UNVEILED’

You look at me and call me oppressed,
Simply because of the way I’m dressed,
You know me not for what’s inside,
You judge the clothing I wear with pride,
My body’s not for your eyes to hold,
You must speak to my mind, not my feminine mold,
I’m an individual, I’m no mans slave,
It’s Allahs pleasure that I only crave,
I have a voice so I will be heard,
For in my heart I carry His word,
“O ye women, wrap close your cloak,
So you won’t be bothered by ignorant folk”,
Man doesn’t tell me to dress this way,
It’s a Law from God that I obey,
Oppressed is something I’m truly NOT,
For liberation is what I’ve got,
It was given to me many years ago,
With the right to prosper, the right to grow,
I can climb moutains or cross the seas,
Expand my mind in all degrees,
For God Himself gave us LIB-ER-TY,
    When He sent Islam,
    To You and Me!
