Not Sure What Palestinians Want Anymore

14Jun07

For the longest time I tried to find the words to describe how I feel seeing Palestinians fight among themselves. And for the longest time, I couldn’t get myself to write about it. But right now, all I want is to vent.

I’ve been wondering lately about what Palestinians really want. I thought that we, Palestinians, wanted peace, and that it was a matter of establishing justice first, it was a matter of time before justice prevail and everyone on that land called Palestine co-lives in peace. And being all for justice even above mercy I, in my heart, soul and the words I write supported and defended the Palestinian cause, just like the millions of Arabs and Muslims and thousands of justice and freedom fighters around the world.

Now I look at what’s happening and I wonder when did this start? was everything about winning over and gaining something out of it? has it been always this messy? I’m afraid the answer is yes. But it only got much worse now, thats all.

I know it’s complicated, I know Palestinians went through a lot and that occupation had it’s horrible effects on them but when getting rid of the occupation ranks lower on their priority list, and killing each other over power and authority comes first, something even more wrong and disturbing than being occupied is happening.

Nobody should support that. I do not support criminal acts, nor the “gangsta” culture that seems to be taking over.

    Salam Shaden,

I don’t think it’s completely ‘gangsta’ culture - it’s also about how the ‘international community’ made beggars of an entire nation with their sanctions, about the US throwing their dirty dollars towards undermining the Palestinian Unity Government by arming Abbas’ security force with US$84 million, and about the Israelis dropping bombs, arresting elected politicians etc.

In this environment you cannot expect much different from what you see; and this is how ‘the powers’ wanted it.

I second that Nasrawi. When you close the world in the face of a tortured people, then bomb them, starve them, isolate them, what do you really expect them to produce? World-renowned composers? Nobel prize winners? Poets? I agree, this is how the powers want it. This is how Israel loves it. Now they can point to the wold and say look at the animals. animals are for slaughtering not for making peace with. but I hold post-Arafat Fatah ultimately responsible for the destruction of the Palestinian nationalists front when Abu Mazen called for the liquidation of the right of return and when he used obscene terms to describe the resistance. That’s when nationalists and leftists abandoned Fatah in droves.

The Only Fact, that such leaders shoudld be gathered and to be put in “Joret Sagf el sael” and put a fuel on them and fire up (party) then i promise you that everything will be well done :)
another thing, frankly i began thinking of changing my religion due to what hamas (breeds and bellies raisers) are doing.
we are in the hell, and i think hell is much better..

while fatah is stealing and playing around, the whole pals where living at some tiny level of peace.. today with the hamasi lovechilds, everything has gone “KILL”.

NOW, i am the arabian one, began to believe bush in his war against “Terror” :)
welcome to palestine.. where the people are NOT sure in what style or fashion they will die!

the 2 comments say that the powers wanted this.

justifying palestinians blowing each other up and killing each other doesn’t by saying it’s america’s (or even israel’s fault) is absurd.

ppl should take responsibility for their /own/ actions.

It is not absurd John - this is the reality in the Occupied Territories - Hamas and Fatah formed a Unity Government to appease the international community and remove sanctions that were choking the Palestinians, that had pushed them to a humanitarian crisis and that was frankly going to lead to a major crisis (as we see today) had not something been done; the US then gave Abbas’ force US$84 million to undermine the unity government. When Abbas’ security force started arresting Hamas, that’s when it blew out of control. Please keep your limited knowledge of the realities on the ground in closed confines.

I’m tired of hearing this bullshit about ‘talking responsibility’.

If America took responsibility for its actions in Iraq they wouldn’t have the same man in power today.
