Some “Iraqi†bloggers are pissed off because they were subject to interrogation and detention for long hours at Queen Alia’s Airport-Amman before being denied entry to the country and having to go back to where they came from. Some went as far as saying that they’re used to mild discrimination by Jordanians, adding that this was more outrageous than anything they’ve witnessed before.
While I understand how people who had to go through this must have felt, and I sincerely sympathize with them, I don’t see how any of this is considered discrimination (assuming that everything was said is true that is). If you expect to move between two countries, one of them is in a state of complete chaos, practically under occupation and on the verge of a civil war (not that Sunni and Shiite haven’t killed off innocents from both sides yet) like any normal passenger then you must be out of your mind!!
Look, I’m sorry you had to go through this, but my sorrow has nothing to do with being Jordanian. If it was me being held and interrogated I’d feel angry indeed, sad and probably humiliated BUT only if I’m a) ignorant or b) someone who thinks he/she is a big **** and hence expect to be received with rose petals to walk on I would blame it on Jordan and Jordanians.
Aside from security concerns, Jordan is a small country which can only take so many Iraqis before it becomes absolutely unbearable to anyone except for the richest of the rich to live in Jordan. If you hate Jordan and Jordanians so much, feel free to leave this country. There’s no place for ungrateful, hateful people in Jordan, be it Iraqi or not, Jordan and Jordanians deserve better than this.
If you have no clue what the situation is like for Iraqis in Jordan, please read more about this here.
